On Thursday evening, July 22, more than 50 NAAAP Atlanta members and members assembled at the UPS headquarters for a buffet dinner and an interactive discussion with Kevin Bradley, Director of Diversity Initiatives at McDonald's Corporation. Bradley invited fellow NAAAP National Advisory Board member Vu Pham to join him and offer his perspectives on diversity, the role and impact of business resource groups (BRGs) in corporate America, how true mentorship can benefit both mentors and mentees, and how Asian American professionals can challenge their thinking to grow as leaders and succeed in a corporate environment. Betty Lo, a NAAAP Atlanta board member and VP of Corporate Relations, facilitated the discussion.
Prior to the evening event, BRG leaders from Atlanta's corporate community met with Kevin Bradley to share experiences, discuss ideas, and brainstorm ways to advance their BRGs' efforts in growing leaders within their respective organizations.
"Today, BRGs should resemble a salad more than a melting pot," Bradley said. "With a melting pot, each of the ingredients can become diluted. With a salad, each element retains its distinctiveness and adds to the overall flavor [of the salad]."
Thank you for visiting us in Atlanta, Kevin Bradley.
