NAAAP Atlanta President

Tommy Yip is a Lead Network Engineer for British Telecom Global Services, a company that provides voice and data communication services for corporate customers with a heavy global presence. To supplement his thirteen-year career with the Telecommunications/IT industry, Tommy has obtained the most prestigious level of industry certification, the Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) while leading a team of several network engineers and interfacing with global sales and account teams. Tommy graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida. Tommy is also a member of the University of Florida Alumni Association and an alumnus of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. An active member of NAAAP-Atlanta since 2005, Tommy has served as the 2006 Technology Chair and the 2007 Vice President.

As the 2007 Vice President, Tommy was involved in various national projects such as serving on the National Development Committee, serving as an alternate national board member, and assisted with exceeding the corporate sponsorship goal with the 21st NAAAP National Convention & Diversity Career Fair while assisting the President in leading with local chapter operations. In the middle of 2007, Tommy created a dedicated NAAAP-Atlanta Corporate Relations team of Account Managers to maintain the relationships of the current corporate sponsors and partners as well as attracting new sponsors. Tommy also achieved his goal in 2007 of getting the general membership involved in various committees of NAAAP-Atlanta while creating the new College Relations committee for student outreach. To improve relations with other community organizations, Tommy arranged joint projects and events with other Asian organizations.

As the 2008 President and Board Chairman, Tommy will continue NAAAP's core mission of promoting the career advancement and leadership development of Asian American professionals by encouraging membership participation in various committees, community involvement, and plans to lead NAAAP-Atlanta from its momentum from hosting the 21st NAAAP National Convention. Tommy's goal is to use that momentum to create stronger brand recognition with the community (Asian and mainstream) and corporate sponsors/partners. Using his excellent relationship and experience with NAAAP National and his seat on the national board and on the National Development Committee, Tommy plans to have NAAAP-Atlanta set an example and share best practices with other NAAAP chapters & ventures to follow to make NAAAP a stronger and a more well known Pan-Asian professional organization in North America.

NAAAP Atlanta Vice-President

Minh Van is a life insurance advisor for AIG, one of the world's largest financial institutions, Minh's focus is to educate the Asian and Latino communities not only in life insurance but also in long term care insurance which he feels is greatly under served. Continuing his community involvement, he has recently joined the Masonic lodge of Chamblee-Sardis No. 444, a local lodge of Freemasonry, and SCIS, the Southern Center for International Studies, a local non-profit promoting international issues for the Atlanta area.

In 2007 as a first year member of NAAAP-Atlanta, Minh Van has served on the Corporate Sponsorship Committee for the 21st Annual NAAAP National Convention, created the weekly tennis and golf clinics, which are highly attended by NAAAP-Atlanta members and generates more new members. He served as committee member for corporate relations and membership committees that further exemplifies his constant motto, "How may I be of service, How may I assist you?" which drives his passion to connect people, welcome new NAAAP members, make them feel invited, and develop long lasting relationships.

With his connections and strong relationships in the Atlanta community, Minh's awareness from his associations with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Press Club, will help guide his decisions in leading and elevating NAAAP-Atlanta as the premier Asian-American organization in Georgia.

NAAAP Atlanta Treasurer

Monika Nelwan received her bachelor's degree in Finance from Iowa State University. After graduation, she started working for UPS as a Finance Specialist. While working for UPS, Monika went on to pursue an MBA from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. After some rotations within the company, she relocated to Atlanta in 2006 and accepted a position as a Finance manager at UPS, responsible for analyzing the small package operating costs and communicating financial results to the senior management.

Shortly after Monika became a NAAAP-Atlanta member, she served in the 2007 NAAAP National Convention planning committee. Monika is also actively involved in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training where she currently serves as a mentor in the marathon training program.

Monika's vision for NAAAP-Atlanta is to be a value added organization for Asian American professionals to network, to develop their leadership and professional skills and to give back to the community.

NAAAP Atlanta Secretary

Catherine Fahidin is a SAP Business Analyst at UCB Inc in the past several years. She received her BA Degree in Accounting from Parahyangan University in Indonesia and MBA degree from University of Delaware. Following her graduation, she worked in several multinational and national companies in US. At UCB, Catherine oversees the system configuration, development and design issues. She acts as a liaison between the offshore development teams in India and business users in US and Europe. Catherine is also a member of International Shinkendo Federation (Japanese Swordsmanship) and Southern Center for International Studies, and a past VP Education of the local Toastmaster club.

Since joining NAAAP in 2007, Catherine has been involved in several events including volunteering for Chopstix for Charity, organizing Financial Planning event and public speaking events. She also part of the Professional Development committee that seeks in improving NAAAP members skills and opportunities through various speeches and development opportunities.

Catherine defines her vision for NAAAP to become a go-to organization for not only Asian Americans professionals but also for students, higher level managers, small business owners. In her opinion NAAAP shall facilitate networking opportunities, enhancing personal and professional skills and provide various avenues for volunteering and community welfare. NAAAP, in Catherine's belief, shall also benefit from collaborations with similar organizations to lend voice to Asian American concerns, thereby increasing its membership and influential reach in the Asian American community.

NAAAP Board - PD Chair

Fabian J. De Rozario is an independent consultant, trainer and coach that specializes in delivering programs and speeches in the areas of diversity/inclusion, public speaking, thinking styles, change management, and leadership at conferences, associations, Fortune 100 companies, and universities worldwide. Fabian was born and raised in Malaysia and completed his secondary education at Fettes College in Edinburgh, Scotland. He arrived in the U.S. in 1982 and completed his Bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Management, and a Master's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Fabian is active in the Asian community of Atlanta, participating in a variety of community service activities. Throughout his career, Fabian has served as an officer of several organizations and has received several awards. The most recent prior to NAAAP-Atlanta was being the Co-founder and Past President of the Malaysian Association of Georgia.

Fabian sees NAAAP as the premier organization that rallies Asian Americans in the united cause of forwarding the interests, talents and contributions of Asian Americans in the American community. NAAAP provides programs that enhance the personal and professional development of Asian Americans. At the chapter level, the NAAAP-Atlanta can continue to make great strides by strategically aligning itself with notable business entities and organizations that can benefit from the talents of Asian Americans, providing programs that build personal and professional prowess among members of the chapter, expanding membership via improving appeal to nontraditional populations, including Asian immigrants, and by widening the age range and professional diversity of its membership, and implementing programs that celebrate members' cultural and ethnic heritages, plus providing programs that help members leverage their cultural backgrounds to succeed in the U.S. work culture.


Edward Hwang

NAAAP Board - National Rep

Edward Hwang began his career as one of the earliest employees of internet service provider MindSpring, which eventually merged with EarthLink to become one of the nation's largest internet service providers. During his eight years serving in a variety of strategic, finance, and operating roles, including Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Edward played an active role in growing the company to a billion-dollar, Fortune 1000 corporation with over five million subscribers, six thousand employees, and over sixteen office locations. In addition to working closely with marketing and business units and receiving several industry awards, including a Microsoft Pinnacle Award for work in business intelligence systems, Edward focused on identifying key talent, building strong teams, and creating exceptional management infrastructure.

Following EarthLink, Edward became Director of Finance, Operations, and Business Development at the New York City-based non-profit All Kinds of Minds, which was co-founded by Charles Schwab and which helped children struggling with learning differences. Ed most recently served as the Vice President of Finance and Operations at Atlanta-based Execumé, a recruiting and career services firm with a successful seventeen year reputation. He has recently started his own executive search firm working with entrepreneurial and high-growth companies.

Edward received his Bachelor of Science in English and Biology from Duke University and his MBA in Finance and Information Systems from Georgia State University. He has been an active NAAAP member for two years, participating in a variety of professional and community activities and working on the corporate sponsorship committee for the 2007 NAAAP National Convention. As NAAAP-Atlanta's National Representative, Ed would like to continue to have the Atlanta chapter be a model for other NAAAP chapters and ventures to follow.


Navneet Narula

NAAAP Board

Navneet Narula is one of the youngest successful rising leaders and quickly emerging as an authority on Business Leadership and Corporate Citizenship in America. As a successful Corporate Executive in Financial Services at Accenture he specializes in building high performance businesses and is one of the top business advisors serving many Fortune 500 and key Wall Street client groups. He serves on advisory boards and is active in industry C-level membership forums. Narula's passion however lies in serving the community, his bravery and visionary leadership was eminent when he dedicated 6 months of time onsite, leading teams in providing humanitarian relief and rehabilitating lives in tragedy struck areas of Tsunami (Asia), Katrina (New Orleans) and Asian earthquake (Kashmir and Pakistan).

Navneet has been the Diversity lead at Accenture's Michigan practice and co-leads the Asian Americans Committed to Excellence (AACE) diversity group in Atlanta. He has been invited to White House on numerous occasions discussing civic liberty, racial profiling, hate crime and humanitarian advocacy issues. Narula has also met with US senators to bridge gaps between law makers and local citizens.

He was ranked as high as #16 in Asia inWorld Juniors and was recruited for NCAA Division 1 college tennis at Michigan State, where he graduated in International Business Marketing with high honors. He shares often that "It's quite simple, I am a very lucky man and a blessed soul – I have more than what I need in my life, but there are others in this world who have less than what they need, all I want to do is give back and balance some things out before I leave this world."

Marc Nguyen is a Real Estate Broker for Ace Brokers Real Estate Company in Marietta, Georgia. As a Real Estate Broker, Marc has eight years of progressive sales and management experience demonstrating a consistent track record of outstanding market sales growth in the Real Estate industry. In addition, Marc possesses a vast knowledge in marketing, well organized with attention to detail and accuracy in a high-pressure and fast paced environment.

After Marc graduated from University of California, Irvine, he served as a Captain in the United States Army for eleven years. He is qualified in human relations and team leadership; well-versed in group dynamics and procedures. Marc is a family man with a wife and three children reside in Marietta, Georgia.

In 2007, Marc served on the Networking Events committee to help bring quality events to NAAAP-Atlanta's diverse and dynamic membership. As a current part of NAAAP-Atlanta Board of Directors, Marc would like to offer a platform on which we share our unique cultural backgrounds and engage in educating ourselves about each other. Marc will coordinate and partner with other local and/or national Asian community to commit to developing familiarity, understanding, and appreciation of Asian cultures within our local communities, corporations, organizations and hopefully people of all walks of life and backgrounds. Tuan Pham is Corporate Controller of Cratos Capital Partners, LLC. In that role, he is responsible for establishing and maintaining all company accounting functions, internal and external financial reporting, and regulatory compliance efforts. Prior to this, Tuan was Corporate Controller for Jameson Inns, Inc., a former publicly traded company. He played a significant role in successfully overseeing the company with its year one Sarbanes-Oxley compliance effort. He was on the transition team to bring the company private when it was acquired.

Prior to joining Jameson Inns, Inc., Tuan spent several years with Grant Thornton, LLP servicing publicly traded and privately held middle market companies in various industries. Tuan began his career working for Equitable Real Estate Management Investment, Inc. Tuan holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant. Tuan served as an Executive Advisor to NAAAP-Atlanta in 2007.

His vision is to help expand and elevate NAAAP-Atlanta into a one of the elite and influential non-profit organizations in Atlanta, and increase the brand awareness and visibility of NAAAP-Atlanta to the Atlanta business community.


Voravannee ("Vinnie") Tangsirikusolwong

NAAAP Board - Marketing & Public Relations

Voravannee ("Vinnie") Tangsirikusolwong has recently joined Oracle Corporation, as a Principle Consultant. She has expertise in the financial services industry and financial management for more than 12 years. Prior to Oracle, she was a senior consultant at Deloitte Consulting in Asia Pacific practice where she was responsible for managing deliverables for several clients that included the clients who have partnerships with 21,000 financial institutions and International Banks in Asia Pacific. Previous to consulting, she was senior financial analyst with National Nederland Group (ING), one of the largest financial service companies. She was responsible for the full cycle of financial statement filing to SEC. She was also a major player of the team who implemented Sarbanes Oxley and converted Dutch GAAP to International Accounting Standards (IAS). She redesigned the financial reports to ensure IAS/IFRS changes are accurately captured.

In 2007, Vinnie joined the NAAAP Atlanta Marketing & Public Relations committee. Vinnie also plays an active role in Asia/Pacific American Council of Georgia (APAC) where she acts as a representative for Thai Association World Center of USA.

As the 2008 Director of Marketing & Public Relations Vinnie wants to continuously create a stronger brand recognition with the Asian and Asian American community, to promote various events and programs of NAAAP-Atlanta and to communicate with various public sectors in an effort to influence the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of and toward NAAAP-Atlanta.

NAAAP Board - Membership Chair

Min Worley has lived in the Atlanta area for over 20 years. She attended the University of Georgia where she obtained a B.B.A in Business Management. Upon graduation, she worked for Jensen Dental Solutions selling porcelain and alloys to dental laboratories. However, she determined that she wanted to work in an environment that fostered the entrepreneurial spirit and decided to change career paths. She is now employed by Opteum Mortgage as a Loan Officer.

In 2007, Min joined the Community Service Committee. With her steadfast determination, and enthusiasm to serve the Asian American community, Min believes that she will become an asset to NAAAP. As the 2008 Director of Membership, Min seeks to utilize her sales, management, and networking experience to show value to NAAAP-Atlanta's membership and to attract potential members to grow its diverse and dynamic membership base.

Min is an active member of the University of Georgia's Alumni Association, the Women of UGA, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, and the Women's Council of Realtors. She is an active member of Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association (ALTA), and enjoys spending time with her husband, fishing, hiking, playing golf, and cheering on the Georgia "Bulldawgs".

Ameet Lilani is a Network Architect and has been working in the IT Industry for over 14 years. Currently working at Asurion (a leader in providing extentded warranties) as a Network Architect and Service Desk Manager . Cisco Certified Professional with an MBA from American Intercontinental University, Atlanta and is currently working on an EMBA from Coles Business School (Kennesaw State) Working experience from working on Wall Street for Chase Manhattan, Nextel, Bellsouth to the most recent Home Depot Corporate consulting gig in Atlanta.

Ameet Lilani heard about NAAAP from a fellow Bellsouth employee who was on the Board. Having working in the IT Industry with the skills he had he felt like giving back to the community and decided on taking the Director Of Technology position at NAAAP to repay back in whatever small manner for the service of the community and the professional development of fellow citizens. Ameet is amazed that a lot of people are not aware that being an Indian makes him an Asian too.

As the Director of Technology for NAAAP 2008 he plans to make many advanced changes to the website. The first quarter and second quarter he plans to roll out the new website for NAAAP. The third and the last quarter of the year he wants to focus on the Professional development with help of training individuals to secure a much stable and prominent position in the IT Industry.

Director of Cultural Awareness

Anh-Lan Nguyen has been an IT consultant at Capgemini, one of the biggest International Consulting Group in the world since August 2006. She currently is a Business Analyst for a big client in the telecommunication industry and had the opportunity to work 3.5 months in India during last summer 2007. In 2006, Anh-Lan obtained two master degrees in Business Administration and Management, one from Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA) and one from Grenoble Ecole de Management (Grenoble, France). Prior to Capgemini, she had gained various experiences in IT companies as a Project Manager Offshore Junior, Sale Assistant, and E-learning assistant.

Anh-Lan first heard about NAAAP 6 months after she came to Atlanta in August 2005. Before NAAAP, she had been actively involved in an International Association called ALOHA (based in France) from 2003 to 2005. As the Director of ALOHA's Asia committee, she successfully organized the first "Asian New Year" in Grenoble with the help of a 31-person team and the support of several other Asia-focused associations. This year, she had decided to fully devote her time for the NAAAP association and to fully embrace her role as the Director of Cultural Awareness.

The mission of the Cultural Awareness committee is to raise the general public's knowledge of the diverse customs and cultures in Asia (yes, India is in Asia too) with the planning and organization of fun and rich activities. For that, close partnerships with the other Asian associations will be maintained and any kind support from NAAAP members and friends will be tremendously helpful and needed. Anh-Lan's ultimate vision is to make NAAAP the number one stop for all Asia-related cultural events.

NAAAP Executive Advisory Board - Mimi Chan

Mimi Chan is the Director of Wireless Youth Marketing at AT&T, Inc. Mimi crafts segment strategy for the under 24 year old market, including a partnership with popular social networking website, MySpace, and a sponsorship with the #1 show on television, American Idol. Over the past three years, Mimi’s efforts have helped catapult AT&T to the wireless industry market share leader among youth. Mimi has been in the industry for ten years, previously working in Hispanic Marketing, Business Marketing, and on the E-Commerce Marketing business at AT&T, Inc. where she pursued strategic alliances and planned and implemented all aspects of product migration for internet and web hosting customers.


Robby Gulri

Robby Gulri brings over 15 years of technology, management, and strategy experience in the Telecommunications and Internet applications sector working in various strategy, sales, and product management positions at companies like BellSouth, Yahoo, and Portal Software. Most recently, led the efforts at BellSouth to build and deploy added-value messaging oriented applications and services to help BellSouth generate ARPU, reduce churn, and compete with multiple competitive threats. Robby is responsible for Product Management, future product direction, and global client & partner relationship management at Echoworx. Prior to joining Echoworx, Robby founded Millennium Solutions Group, a services company focused on building middleware applications for companies and organizations such as AT&T, State of Georgia, and SunTrust Banks. In addition, he is an associate professor of Management of Information Technology with the Georgia University system and a guest lecturer at various universities. Robby holds a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering with Minor of Mathematics from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the Robinson School of Business at Georgia State University.
