March is Women’s History Month and one of the many events around Atlanta celebrating is “Women In the Spotlight”, a three-day leadership and networking retreat for both women and men hosted by Velvet Suite Marketing Consulting Group. One of those Women in the Spotlight is our own Sarah Hawk, VP of Professional Development and Executive Board Member.

Sarah’s leadership in the Asian community and her own professional path enabled her to become one of a select group of Women in the Spotlight. These women are leaders in business and society who have made it to the top of their respective fields. They will share their challenges and stories which should prove to be an energetic boost and inspiration to become more involved and connected to each other. She hopes to help break down perceived barriers and find similarities and strength to empower people. Sarah looks forward to a weekend of positive energy, networking and more friendships.

Besides serving in a leadership role with NAAAP Atlanta, Sarah is also involved in the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network, Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia and volunteer consular staff to the Honorary Consulate in Atlanta. Her involvement in the Asian community was inspired after a diplomatic trip to the Philippines in 2007 where she met the President of the Philippines, Gloria Arroyo, who happened to be her exact height.

Professionally, Sarah has been in the immigration business for about 12 years and is currently a partner with Fisher & Phillips LLP in global immigration.
